posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
The official Twitter account for Gekijōban Servamp: Alice in the Garden-, the anime film based on Strike Tanaka's Servamp manga, revealed on Friday that the film will open in Japan on April 7.
The film's story will deal with Misono Alicein's past. The main cast from the television anime will reprise their roles. Hideaki Nakano is returning to direct the film at Platinum Vision, and Junko Yamanaka is again designing the characters. Ayumu Hisao (Yowamushi Pedal: Spare Bike, Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?) is replacing Kenji Konuta to write the script.
Tanaka launched the series in Monthly Comic Gene in 2011, and Kadokawa published the manga's 10th compiled book volume last July. The 11th volume is slated to ship on December 27. Monthly Comic Gene is listing that the manga has 1.5 million copies in print. Seven Seas Entertainment publishes the manga in North America, and it published the manga's 10th volume in August.
The manga resumed in April after an announced hiatus in January due to pain in Tanaka's intervertebral disk and shoulder. Tanaka has since recovered.
The manga inspired a television anime in July 2016, and Funimation streamed the series with English subtitles and an English dub. Crunchyroll began streaming the series in October.
Update: Monthly Comic Gene is listing that the manga has 1.5 million copies in print.
