Sazae-san Cartoon Family's Assets Estimated at US$1.2 Million

The charming family life of Sazae Fuguta, her husband Masuo, their son Tarao, and the other family members is the focus of the world's longest-running animated series. Sazae-san illustrates happiness from simple pleasures and features basic plot lines, but a look at the lifestyle of the Fuguta family shows that salaryman Masuo, or Sazae's parents, have some serious cash.
Sankei Shimbun's Tsuikatsu Dokuhon Sonae published an article going over the family's assets and discovered they're worth US$1.2 million. The magazine includes family's 2,691 square foot home in Tokyo's Setagaya ward, the goods seen in the series, and a character's golf membership.
The anime adaptation of Machiko Hasegawa's Sazae-san manga began airing in 1969, and the show celebrated its 45th anniversary of airing in 2013. The anime has had over 2,250 episodes (with about 7,000 short stories), and constantly ranks high on the Japanese TV rankings.
