Cowboy Bebop Themes Are Still Snazzy in 8-Bit
posted on by Lynzee Loveridge
There's plenty to rave about when it comes to Shinichiro Watanabe's classic anime series, Cowboy Bebop. You could focus on the stellar character writing, the comedy that never ages, the stunning sci-fi visuals, or Yoko Kanno's amazing soundtrack. The series' opening theme "Tank" and ending theme "The Real Folk Blues" remain iconic, even when you strip them down to 8-bit sensibilities.
The YouTube channel Studio Megaane has an extensive collection of anisongs reworked with the charm of an SNES JRPG. The playlist includes current favorites like the opening of DARLING in the FRANXX to classics like City Hunter. Of course, Cowboy Bebop's themes are available, too. Hey, if you can't make it to the series' upcoming collaboration cafe, you can always cook up some bell peppers and beef or whatever's still lurking in the back of the fridge, turn on these tunes, and make your own cafe.
Cowboy Bebop is a music-centric space noir series that follows Spike and his rag-tag crew of bounty hunters as they travel from planet to planet in search of a quick buck and an escape from their traumatic pasts. The series has run on Toonami several times since the block's revival in 2012, and is currently airing on the block.
