Hosoda's Boy & the Beast Film Ranks #2, Love Live! Earns 2 Billion Yen

Mamoru Hosoda's The Boy and The Beast film retained its #2 spot at the Japanese box-office for the July 25-26 weekend. The film earned 336,963,100 (about US$2.72 million) and sold around 249,722 tickets during the weekend. As of July 27, the film has earned more than 2.5 billion yen (US$20.2 million), with a current total of 1.98 million tickets sold after three weekends.
Pokémon the Movie: Hoopa and the Clash of Ages slipped from #3 to #4 in its second weekend.
Love Live! The School Idol Movie stayed at #7 in its seventh weekend. It now has a cumulative total of 2 billion yen (US$16 million).
Soreike! Anpanman: Mija to Mahō no Lamp still sold 81% of the number of tickets that it had sold in the previous weekend, and it rose from #10 to #8. After four weekends, it now holds the franchise box office record of 3 billion yen so far (US$24 million).
