7th Hakuōki Musical's Digest Video Streamed

Marvelous, Inc. began streaming a digest video on Saturday for the seventh installment in the series of Hakuōki musicals, titled Musical Hakuōki: Shinsengumi Kitan (Hakuōki: Stories of the Shinsengumi, named after the first game in the franchise).
Japanese streaming service Niconico will stream a performance of the musical from January 17 at 9:00 p.m. JST (7:00 a.m. EST) to February 1 at 11:59 p.m. JST (9:59 a.m. EST). Tickets to view the stream are available until January 18 at 11:59 p.m. JST (9:59 a.m. EST) for 1,600 Niconico points or 1,600 yen (about US$13.68).
The musical ran from January 4-11 in Tokyo and January 15-17 in Osaka. Nobuhiro Mōri directed the play and wrote the script and song lyrics, and Toshihiko Sahashi composed the music.

The sixth musical, Hakuōki: Reimei Roku (Hakuōki: Daybreak Story), named for the prequel game, ran in Tokyo in May and in Kyoto in July. Earlier musicals focused on individual characters.
The story of the game franchise and its anime adaptations center around the historical Shinsengumi samurai group in Kyoto during the 19th century.
Idea Factory released the original Hakuōki Shinsengumi Kitan game for the PlayStation 2 in 2008. The game has since been ported into the PlayStation 3, PlayStation Portable, Nintendo DS, and Nintendo 3DS platforms. Idea Factory recently released a PS Vita port on September 25. Aksys Games localized and released the game's PlayStation 3 version in May 2014. Aksys Games also previously released the game on the PSP and 3DS, and also released the Hakuōki: Warriors of the Shinsengumi spinoff PSP game.
The Hakuōki anime franchise includes the 12-episode Hakuōki series, the 10-episode sequel series Hakuōki Hekketsu-roku, and the 6-episode Hakuōki Sekkaroku OVA series. The franchise also includes a prequel television anime series and two films that premiered in 2013. Additionally, the Hakuōki: Otogisōshi anime series of shorts featuring chibi versions of the franchise's characters will premiere in April. Sentai Filmworks licensed the anime franchise in 2013.
The Hakuōki SSL ~sweet school life~ high school spinoff game has also inspired a live-action TV series, a musical, and a live-action film that will open on February 6.
