A live-action television series adaptation of Hideo Iura's Keiji Yugami (Detective Yugami) manga has been green-lit. It will premiere on Fuji TV in October, and will air on Thursdays at 10:00 p.m.
The cast includes Tadanobu Asano (right in image above) as protagonist Yukimasa Yugami, and Ryunosuke Kamiki (left) as Torao Hanyū, Yugami's young partner who has a strong sense of justice. Hiroshi Nishitani, Yūsuke Katō, and Shōgo Miyaki are directing the series.
The manga centers on slovenly police detective Yukimasa Yugami, and his search for "true justice" as he tackles mysterious crimes and cases that he encounters in the criminal investigation department.
Iura launched the manga in Shogakukan's Big Comic Original magazine in May 2016. Shogakukan published the manga's second compiled book volume on June 30.
Iura's Bengoshi no Kuzu manga was previously adapted into a live-action series in 2006.
