Young Black Jack Manga's Story Approaches Climax
posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
This year's fifth issue of Akita Shoten's Young Champion magazine revealed on Tuesday that Yū-Go Ōkuma and Yoshiaki Tabata's Young Black Jack manga is approaching its climax.
The manga went on hiatus in March 2017 so that the creators could prepare for the manga's next arc, and resumed in February 2018.
The manga is a prequel to Black Jack, Osamu Tezuka's classic series about a brilliant maverick doctor who practices without a license. The prequel follows Black Jack when he was still a young, unorthodox medical student in 1968.
Ōkuma and Tabata launched the manga in Young Champion in November 2011. Akita Shoten published the manga's 14th compiled book volume (seen right) on December 20.
The manga inspired a television anime series in October 2015. Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired in Japan, and Sentai Filmworks released the series on Blu-ray Disc and DVD in February 2017.
